Ships on Watchlist

In accordance with Section 3.8.2 of the Indian Ocean MOU, where vessels that proceed to sea without complying with the conditions agreed to by the Authority of the port of inspection, or do not proceed to the nominated repair port. The Authority of the repair port will immediately alert port of inspection and it will inform IOMOU Secretariat to announce the other MOU's Secretariats. On the basis of above Committee decided to publish "Ship on watch list/alert".

The list contains the alert received from the Secretariat of another MOU, a flag State and a classification society. Alert is placed as per the guidelines/procedure approved by the Committee.

Ships On-Watch List/Alert

Where vessels, in accordance with the Section 3.8.2 of the Indian Ocean MOU, proceed to sea without complying with the conditions agreed to, by the Authority of the port of inspection, or do not proceed to the nominated repair port, then the Authority of the repair port will immediately alert the port of inspection and also will inform the IOMOU Secretariat to bring it to the notice of the other MOUs.

The Authority may then request the IOMOU Secretariat to place an alert on the IOMOU 'Ships On-Watch List'.

Additionally, other organisations such as classification societies, Secretariats of the other MOUs and the flag States not being the member Authorities of the Indian Ocean MOUs also provide alerts on the various vessels as when needed by them from time to time. The IOMOU Secretariat hosts these alerts only as a general information for the maritime community. The IOMOU takes no responsibility for the initiation of such alerts.

In accordance with the conditions mentioned in paragraph 1 of the Guidelines for "Ships on Watch List", member Authorities of the IOMOU Secretariat and the responsible organisations can request the IOMOU Secretariat to place an alert on the IOMOU website. At this moment, member Authorities of the IOMOU Secretariat and other responsible organizations have placed alerts on the following vessels (asterisk (*) denotes an alerting State as being a member of the Indian Ocean MOU)
